June 1st - August 31st
SpokAnimal is competing with 49 other shelters across the country for a chance at more than $125,000- including the grand prize of $100,000. The 2014 ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge is a nationwide competition to find homes for more animals than ever before. SpokAnimal 100K Challenge events can be found on the national 100K website.
The staff and volunteers of SpokAnimal have taken on a 100K Challenge theme of "SpokAnimal Lifesavers." Watch for them around the area in their red lifeguard themed t-shirts and colorful vinyl Lifesaver-colored wristbands. Every family member who adopts a pet from SpokAnimal this summer will receive a wristband and also have their photos posted to the Rachael Ray 100K national challenge website.
During the Challenge months of June, July, and August, SpokAnimal is tasked with finding homes for almost 2,000 pets in order to qualify to win the $100,000 grand prize and beat their 49 competitors from across the nation. A full schedule of summer outreach and adoption events are scheduled to help us find homes for as many pets as we can!
In addition to the grand prize of $100,000, SpokAnimal is also competing for a $25,000 Community Engagement prize and is reaching out to individuals, businesses, clubs, churches, youth groups, and anyone who wants to get involved in raising money, adopting pets, and helping the shelter this summer. There are unlimited ways that groups can help bring awareness to SpokAnimal and the Rachael Ray 100K Challenge. To find out more, call Emily at SpokAnimal at 534-8133 x 216.
